Roughneck (book review) Jeff Lemire

201006: bleak, brutal, beautiful. exactly the right art for the story- rough, slashing, direct- and the right story for the art. not something likely to be made into a movie, it is unforgettable, it tells the story in images, no extras, no confusion. not my usual favourite art nor story but i am moved by this tragic history, these characters understandable in their pain if not lovable. great work...
